Before the first beep
Every session starts here. Tick each one only when it is true right now.
A laser training cartridge or a training barrel makes dry fire safer still. Your answers are not saved: the next session asks again.
The drill
Use the phone's own speaker: Bluetooth adds a delay nobody can measure.
Camera setup
Where to put it
Between the TV (or your target) and you, facing you, about three metres away: low, below the line from your gun to the target, and a little off centre. Straight down the line of fire your hands and gun hide your body at full extension, and a camera at eye height stands in front of the targets. Your whole body should be in the picture, hips included.
Ready stance and full extension
Once per session: hold each for two seconds when the screen says HOLD. Gun pointed in the safe direction.
Ready stance: stand facing the camera, hands relaxed at your sides, gun holstered — not a low ready. Full extension: both hands on the gun, arms straight out.
Clap check
Are the camera and the microphone on one clock? After the beep, clap once at each CLAP, hands in front of your chest. This device's answer is kept for next time.
Aim from the camera
Hang a USPSA paper target where you will aim (any size). From eighteen presses — nine named points on it, each twice — the camera learns how your hands and arms map onto the target. What it then reads is an estimate: on or off the target, which target, and the shape of your aim at each press — never a score.
Each point is shown for a few seconds: find it, take a proper sight picture, press (or hold). Gun pointed at the hung target, which must be in a safe direction.
Not calibrated yet: each rep's presentation will be read against that rep's own fullest reach, which moves from rep to rep, and reloads get no belt line. Record your ready stance and full extension above, or continue anyway.
The target sheet
Print the sheet at actual size (100 %) — never “fit to page” — and measure the bar on it: it must be exactly 100 mm. Hang it flat in a safe direction, the four black corner squares uncovered.
Face the sheet
Stand the phone on something steady behind or beside you, its camera on the sheet, the whole sheet in the picture and upright. Then find the markers: the sheet's outline and the target's are drawn over the picture when they are found. The target's drawn outline must sit exactly on the printed target — if it is bigger or smaller, the size chosen above is not the one you printed. If the phone moves, find them again.
No click to learn
Learn your gun's click
Stand where you will practise, gun pointed in the safe direction. When the screen says PRESS, press the trigger once. Three times, three seconds apart.
